EL TORO meaning ‘the bull’, serves SONORAN-style Mexican cuisine. Sonora is a high-desert country state of El Norte or the North. El Toro Mexican Restaurant is an arid land of canyons and cattle ranches, this area has produced much of the culture and cuisine that non-Mexicans regard as “Mexican”. Less Indian than the south, and less European than Central Mexico.
Still in many ways a frontier society, it is the birthplace of the ‘cowboy culture’, which has left its indelible imprint in United States history.
El Norte stretches for 1800 miles from the rugged Pacific coast of Baja, California to the lowlands of the Gulf of Mexico.
